In late 2012, Roy and Heather, a husband a wife team, set out to make their hobby a reality.  What started as cooking meals in our friends homes on the weekends for fun and to escape to monotony of our 9-5’s turned into a passion fueled business. 

Fast forward to present day, we are a full service catering company and food truck that believes in the importance of supporting local vendors, the quality of seasonal food and giving back to our community.  At the core of our values is providing an EXCEPTIONAL guest experience as opposed to just providing food.  From a corporate office party to an elegant backyard wedding, we are committed to serving upscale seasonal food in an approachable fashion.  We specialize in bringing the restaurant to you with an interactive approach to wow your guests, while allowing you to sit back, relax and enjoy the party.

Favorite Food : Duck Fat Potatoes

Our Founder and Executive Chef, Roy Riedl, has been working in kitchens since he was old enough to do so. While working his way through every position imaginable at a restaurant he simultaneously earned his Bachelor’s degree in Digital Design from  Quinnipiac University. Shortly after he went on to study and complete a degree, magna cum laude, in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales. Roy has studied under critically acclaimed chefs at restaurants such as Craft Steak and Barcelona Restaurant Group. In 2012, Roy branched off to set his entrepreneur dreams into a reality by opening Mercado Foods. He has a true passion for creating unique and delicious dishes that are seasonally appropriate and utilize local farms and vendors wherever possible.

Heather

Favorite Food : Pork Belly Slider

Our Co-founder and Event Specialist, Heather Riedl, also began her passion for the food and beverage industry through the restaurant business. While studying Sociology at the University of Connecticut, she began her first restaurant serving job in order to make a little extra cash. What began as a side job, became a true passion and something that morphed into a career. Working for restaurants such as Plan B and Barcelona, she became a seasoned service professional and received top notch training in craft beer, wine and spirits. Heather has a love for making clients feel like a guest in their own home and allowing them to sit back, relax and enjoy their party. In addition, she loves working with clients on an individual basis to select a beverage menu that will complement their food menu and wow their guests.
